Children's University Graduation Nears
It was an exciting morning last Thursday for students taking part in our first year of the Children's University program as they were fitted for graduation gowns ahead of their graduation ceremony in November.
Children's University is an innovative program that engages children and young people in exciting, out-of-school learning opportunities to increase their chances for educational achievement and rewards them for taking responsibility for their own learning.
This year it has been coordinator by Mrs Caldinez and has seen students take part in many activities including book clubs, dental health visits, zoo trips, arts, crafts, and experiences. Most of the work done is done by students and their families after school and on weekends and requires students to record and document their activities and what they have learnt. It has required dedication and persistence by students with the support of their families.
Students have to log a minimum of 30 hours of learning time to qualify for graduation and the upcoming school holidays is their last chance to get more hours logged into their learning passports.
Students who are taking part must bring their passport in for verification on the first Monday of Term 4 for their school holiday activities to qualify towards their hours.
The graduation will be held at Bonython Hall, Adelaide University, on Tuesday 9 November. Mrs Caldinez will contact families with more details in Term 4.
