Congratulations to Year 5 student Mitchell Fischer who has been recently named to the Northern Districts Cricket Club's Under 14 team.

Mitchell earned his selection on his first attempt to make the representative side and will compete across Adelaide during the Summer. Mitchell has been playing cricket since he was five years old and will continue to play for his club Mallala on Saturday mornings prior to his Northern Districts games on Saturday afternoon. The mad-keen cricketer also plays in a second shield side on Sundays for Northern Districts.

Training twice a week in Salisbury, Mitchell said he hopes to one day become a professional cricketer and admires Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne on the bat and Mitchell Stark with the ball.

"My dad plays cricket too and he has played for Mallala since he was a kid,'' Mitchell said.

"I was really happy to make the Northern Districts team because I want to improve my batting and I also get to make new friends.''

Mitchell classes himself as an all rounder.
